Indy Minute - Weekly independent wrestling news round up

Welcome back to the Delco Elbow Drop for the extended Indy Minute – all the great indy wrestling news you heard on the Ring Rust Radio podcast and a whole lot more. There’s a ridiculous amount of ground to cover this week so let’s get right into it!

Tyler Breeze announced that he suffered a broken finger in a “hand modeling accident” but said it won’t stop him from cashing in his number one contendership for Adrian Neville’s NXT title.   Also, it looks like there is trouble between the BFFs, despite their victory over Bayley and Becky Lynch and it seems that Charlotte and Sasha Banks will soon be striking out on their own.

Really enjoying Tyson Kidds heel turn. He's really finding his stride as the bitter vet who's been overlooked for too long. His feud with Sami Zayn should help out both guys in finding their spots in the company and with the crowd.

Still no sign of Solomon Crowe (Sami Callihan) or referee Drake Wuertz (Drake Younger) on NXT either.

Kevin Steen basically confirmed that he and Willie Mack are going to WWE at PWG’s "Sold Our Soul For Rock and Roll."
Steen closed the show saying:
"It used to happen once in a while, and started to happen a little more frequently. But I think the fact that this keeps happening speaks volumes for the talent of professional wrestlers in PWG. And regarding all those rumors all I can say is yes... I am going to IHOP after the show and none of you are invited."
Also, during the show while on commentary, Steen made comments about he and Mack getting hired at “The Gap,” which could only be a reference to WWE’s brand of, perhaps, generic wrestling. During Brian Cage/Roderick Strong, Steen says he did a crazy second-to-third turnbuckle springboard moonsault during his tryout for The Gap and that the Gap’s managers were very impressed.
What PWG regulars have been signed by WWE, you ask? Let's see - El Generico (who sold his moveset to Sami Zayn), Pac (Adrian Neville), Sami Callihan (Solomon Crowe), Samuray Del Sol (Kalisto), Claudio Castagnoli (Cesaro), Bryan Danielson (Daniel Bryan), Drake Younger (Drake Wuertz) and now you can pretty much add Steen and Mack to that list.

Kevin Steen also announced that his Ring of Honor contract is up and his final appearances in the company will be:
July 12 against Tomasso Ciampa in their first match ever
July 18 against Silas Young in a no DQ match
July 19 against former SCUM stablemate Steve Corino

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla announced the remainder of the 2014 Battle of Los Angeles. The full line up is below and the first announced matchup is PWG Champion Kyle O’Reilly vs. former CZW Champion Drew Gulak.
AJ Styles (IWGP Heavyweight champ)
Kyle O'Reilly (PWG champ)
Chris Hero (Evolve champ)
Ricochet (DG USA champ and BoSJ winner)
Biff Busick (CZW champ)
Michael Elgin (ROH champ)
Drew Gulak (former CZW champ)
Adam Cole (former ROH and PWG champ)
Zack Sabre Jr. (one half of the GHC Jr Heavyweight tag champs)
Kenny Omega (one half of the DDT tag team champions)
Matt Sydal (Evan Bourne)
Brian Myers (Curt Hawkins)
Chris Sabin
Chuck Taylor
Trent? (Chuckie T and Trent won PWG DDT4 this year)
Roderick Strong
Tomasso Ciampa
Johnny Gargano
AR Fox
ACH
Rich Swann
Brian Cage
Cedric Alexander
Trevor Lee

PWG announced a 6-man, non-tournament match for night one of the 2014 BOLA – Mount Rushmore (The Young Bucks and Adam Cole) vs. the Best Friends of Low Moral Fiber (Kenny Omega, Chuck Taylor and Trent?). Which is awesome because I totally called. I tweeted last week that we could possibly see a reunion of the Men of Low Moral Fiber and it’s happening. It’s official, I’m a wrasslin’ Nostradamus (in that a majority of the stuff I predict never happens).

PWG also recently announced its second wrestler compilation DVD - Super Dragon Destruction. Three discs with over 20 matches from PWG, CZW, wXw and more. The company's first compilation was The Many Adventures of El Generico. I saw a number of the CZW matches that Super Dragon was in with Excalibur and Kevin Steen live back in the early 2000s and I’m very excited to relive some of their hard-hitting battles.
You can check out the teaser for the compilation below (don’t worry, there’s no spoilers).

Luke Hawx is challenging Matt Hardy for the Maryland Championship Wrestling heavyweight championship on July 19 in a TLC match at the 14th annual Shamrock Memorial Cup. Former WWE Diva Kaitlyn will also be appearing for a meet and greet before the show.

There's a Sin Cara edition of Botchamania and it's everything you could ever hope and more.

There's a Kickstarter on right now to send $5 Wrestling's Freight Trainand Jake Manning to London. With 20 days to go, its already raised over $2,000 of the $5,000 goal to send the beloved $5 Wrestling star to England, his first time ever leaving America.

There seems to be some indication that the website UStream may no longer be carrying the New Japan Pro Wrestling and Dragon Gate iPPVs in the future. I don’t follow Japanese wrestling too closely so I’m not entirely familiar with the situation but you can head to this link and find out more. What I can tell is this would be terrible for American fans of NJPW and Dragon Gate, as there are several big events (including NJPW’s G1 Climax) coming up in the near future.

Former TNA X Division champion Petey Williams retired from pro wrestling this past weekend. His final match was against Chris Sabin in Detroit’s Xtreme Intense Championship Wrestling “Best of Detroit 6.” Williams won the ECWA Super 8 tournament in 2005 and credited with inventing his finisher, the Canadian Destroyer (which is also used by Adam Cole as the Panama Sunrise).

Beyond Wrestling in Providence, RI hosting Americanrana '14 at the end of July (27). Michael Elgin is taking on Chris Dickinson, the Young Bucks versus Juicy Product (JT Dunn and David Starr) and the Best Friends take on Team Tremendous (Dan Barry and Bill Carr). Jimmy Jacobs and “@TheCurtHawkins” Brian Myers are also scheduled to appear.
As a special bonus, I found this match on YouTube of Candice LeRae and Joey Ryan taking on Team Tremendous at a Beyond Wrestling secret show. Candice and Joey are pretty well known on the indy circuit but Team Tremendous is one of those up and coming teams you’ll start to hear more and more about in the future. The team plays two detectives (as they’re sometimes announced as Team Tremendous Investigations), with Barry often playing the good cop and the massive Carr in the role of the bad cop.

Karl “Machine Gun” Anderson, Luke Gallows and Rocky Romero are starting a new podcast called "Talk'n Shop." You can check out the first episode here.

Joey Ryan tweeted that PWGs ELEVEN is 11 years to the day from the company's first show (July 26, 2003-July 26, 2014).
