RKO vine videos come out of nowhere
Much
like Randy Orton’s RKO finisher itself, these RKO vines seem to have come out
of nowhere.
YouTuber
steveozzi is the genius that came up with the trend of adding images of “The
Viper” hitting his finishing maneuver into videos of people falling, jumping
off things or otherwise getting taken out in a way that it looks like Orton is
hitting the RKO.
If
you’re not a wrestling fan, the joke plays on the fact that whenever Orton hits
his finisher, the announcers usually yell “RKO OUT OF NOWHERE!” But it also
plays on how Orton has been known to hit his finisher in a variety of creative
ways – countering someone elses finisher, hitting it as someone dives off the
ropes or the way he did it this past Monday on Raw, when he countered Dolph
Ziggler as he went for a Fameasser, up into a powerbomb and tossed him upward, hitting
the RKO has Dolph came down.
Steveozzi
even has a few other videos of WWE wrestlers hitting their finishers on
unsuspecting YouTube videos, like JBL’s Clothesline From Hell:
Or
Shawn Michael’s Sweet Chin Music:
It
seems like these videos have only recently hit the web and the creator seems
intent on making more, which I’m definitely looking forward to. It seems like
these RKO out of nowhere videos are becoming pretty popular online and anything
that gets pro wrestling more mainsteam attention, or at least attention from
people who don’t usually watch wrestling, is great.
It’ll
be interesting to see how quickly WWE itself picks up on the trend and if it
affects Orton’s character in any way. He plays a heel character right now, a
lackey for The Authority, but it’s been rumored that a face turn is in the
works for Orton and it just seems like serendipity that this viral trend should
happen right now, which will definitely get more people to like him.
Either
way, these RKO out of nowhere videos are pretty great and I hope to see more
very soon.
